Grapat 7 Moons

Grapat wooden weekly calendar, 7 Moons
Each acorn-Nin represents one day of the week. Their colours allow us to differentiate them and name them. According to the Waldorf pedagogy, each day of the week corresponds to one colour. The proposal that comes from this is that Monday is violet (or purple); Tuesday is red; Wednesday is yellow; Thursday, orange; Friday is green; Saturday, indigo, and Sunday is white.
Conventional calendars are linear and for children, a difficult concept to understand. The week begins and ends in a line, when time in reality does not work like that. When the week ends, it does not finish, time greets and welcomes a new day one by one and the circle goes around. The tactile quality of this beautiful natural material allows children to play and touch time. Each day the child awakens the corresponding Nin and places it on top of it’s upturned receptacle in the centre of the dish. The Nin of the day is offered a leading role, because it is his day and we celebrate it with joy. When night comes, the Nin returns to his receptacle to sleep, and will remain there for six more nights until the wheel returns to his day once again. Almost like a story, like a story that repeats itself, with its consequent pleasure.
The Grapat 7 moons Weekly Calendar helps children to experience the weekly cyclic rhythm. Children will associate each day with a colour, allowing them to touch each day as it comes and goes and helping them to understand the passage of the days.
